Today, I'm gonna show you how to model a simple ring
To be honest, this tutorial can be done in minutes, however, the main point of this tutorial is to get yourself to know about Compound Object and Boolean function
So,start by creating a Torus (Create --> Geometry --> Torus)
You should get something like this
This is my settings
Now,create another Cylinder right in the middle of the Torus and give it a higher Height than your Torus (Means it is longer)
Now,go to Create, switch to Compound object, select your Torus and choose Boolean
Change your settings to like this, note that if you choose Subtract (B - A) the result will be different
After you are done, choose Pick Operand B and select your Cylinder, you should now have the following
Scale your Model to the way you like it using Scale tool, and you are done with the modeling
What you have to do now is to apply your Texture, you can also convert your model into Editable Poly and add more details to it so that it becomes a complete Model though
Here is what the result looks like
And here is how it looks like after Render (Yeah,I added another one XD)
Good luck and enjoy your model ^.^
Tips:You can choose your cylinder and then in Boolean, switch your selection to Subtraction (B-A), the result will be the same
